Last Sunday night was inaugurated, in San Blas, the 14th edition of the International Festival of Migratory Birds (FIAM), a community project that every year performs scientific and cultural activities, as well as recovery of public spaces, in the historic port.
Directed by Rosaura Gascón Villa and with the participation of young volunteers, at the opening ceremony was a tribute to Daniel Burgueño Zúñiga, who was an important part of the body of volunteers of the Festival and who died a few months ago.
Nemesio Castañeda Coppel, who attended with the representation of the governor Antonio Echevarría García, ratified the support of the state administration to the Festival, which promotes, he said, the culture and tourism in the port. He also invited all the Nayarites to participate in the activities that the Festival has programmed for a whole week.
In addition to the traditional Bird Watching Routes in different places of San Blas, the 2018 edition of the International Migratory Bird Festival includes numerous activities, such as the recovery of public spaces with the collaboration of civil society and environmental education work, through of workshops in the Primary School ‘Fray Junípero Serra’, as well as children’s dynamics in the Benito Juárez Children’s Garden.
At the inauguration, held at the Plaza San Blas, participated the Ballet Mexcaltitán with a colorful show and dances of Mexican folklore, which extolled before the assistants -national and foreign- the traditions of this land.
